In celebration of the 30th anniversary of New York Undercover, the cast of the popular program has announced a tour with former musical guests of the show. "We are going on tour as a cast with musical artists from the show to celebrate with you," Malik Yoba said on an IG post.

"Audiences never had this experience with us, and we are gonna hit markets across America with artists that performed on the show," Yoba explained on a recent episode of the Tamron Hall show. He also revealed that the show never received the support of its network, Fox during its run.

"We were the little ghetto show that could," he said. "There was never a poster, t shirt or billboard. We never appeared on any talk show as a cast at that time. "When we traveled to affiliates across the country, you'd see every other Fox show like Beverly Hills 90210 and Party of Five lined the hallways, but you'd never see us. Even though we were number one in Black and Latino households, we weren't seen as mainstream fare.

The groundbreaking police drama, co-created by Dick Wolf of Law & Order fame, centered on NYPD undercover detectives "J.C. Williams" (Malik Yoba) and "Eddie Torres" (Michael DeLorenzo), and it's easy to see why it quickly became a pop culture favorite. One, it was the first police drama to star two people of color in starring roles, a move that was long overdue. And two, and it capped Fox's impressive Thursday night Black television lineup, which also included the juggernaut shows Martin and Living Single.
