Remy Ma Reveals Big Pun's
Dream Collaboration

It's been a little over 20 years since the death of Bronx rap superstar Big Pun. Born Christopher Rios, Pun died on February 7, 2000, but his legacy has lived on via the body of work he created and his stature as one of the greatest lyricists of all time. That legacy has also been sustained via his Terror Squad compadres like Fat Joe and Remy Ma, who have gone on to chart-topping success. Fans know the Terror Squad has been an enduring presence in Hip-Hop for 20 years.

Remy recently appeared on Joe's Instagram Live and talked about who she remembered her mentor Pun being amped to rhyme with. Joe mentioned Jadakiss.

“We didn’t," Remy replied when asked if they'd discussed Kiss. "The only discussion that we had — and he put it to me, ‘Any time I get a song with anybody, any cypher, my goal was to kill everybody.'"

Remy revealed that it was another emcee the late rhymer had his eyes on.

“So at the time, that’s when [the posse cuts] ‘John Blaze’ was out and ‘Banned From TV.’ He felt like all those records, he had to watch for that muthafucka Jadakiss ’cause he gon’ do what he do. But I can honestly say that he was waiting for Eminem. That was his thing. He was like, ‘I can’t wait to get on a track with him.’ That was his goal. Out of his lips, he told me he cannot wait for the song to come with him and Eminem. That’s what he was waiting for.”

Then known as "Remy Martin," Remy made some of her earliest appearances on Pun's final album Yeeeah Baby, released just months after his passing.
