Run Reveals What Run-DMC's Original Group Name Was Going To Be

Beastie Boys famously sampled Run-DMC's "Rock the House" to create "Sure Shot" from the group's 1994 album, Ill Communication. Well, it seems that the homage — whether intentional or unintentional — reveals a previously unknown fact about the Hollis legends.

While appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Run revealed that the group was originally going to be called "The Sure Shot Two" as an homage to other popular groups at the time who used numbers like Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and The Funky 4 +1. However, on advice from management, they decided to go with a combination of he and DMC's stage names.

"It kinda worked out," Run sheepishly admitted.
