The beauty of graffiti is that it evolves. From markers, to mops, to spray paint, to the usage of drones, artists continue to push the boundaries on what's possible. To that end, Eric Haze has seemingly become the first graffiti artist to see his hand styles and tag emblazoned on the Las Vegas Sphere.

HAZE has contributed to Hip-Hop in numerous ways. Most notably. he crafted the Beastie Boys logo, as well as designed the album cover for LL COOL J's Bad and Public Enemy's Yo! Bum Rush the Show.

He commented, "Wow, it sure hits different at scale in real life compared to mock ups on a computer screen!!"

HAZE began writing graffiti in the late '70s/early '80s as part of the crew RTW (Rolling Thunder Writers) along side would-be-legends BIL-ROCK, MIN, ZEPHYR, REVOLT and MACKIE.

His exploits come at the same time that writers in Los Angeles have taken over a defunct high-rise, Oceanwide Plaza, a a $1-billion mixed-use project on Figueroa Street that has been stalled in Downtown since 2019.

As of this writing, taggers have hit 27 floors in a building directly across from Crypto.com Arena at L.A. Live — the site of yesterday's Grammy Awards.

According to Architectural Digest, The Sphere was designed by Populous, a global design firm specialising in stadiums and large-scale event venues. In 2018, it was estimated that the project would cost $1.2 billion. After accounting for design changes, supply chain crisis and inflation, it is understood that The Sphere ultimately cost $2.3 billion.
