On a recent episode of Hollywood Gold film producer Todd Lieberman revealed that Eminem was his first choice for Mark Wahlberg's character Mickey Ward in The Fighter. Christian Bale portrayed Dicky Eklund, Ward's brother in the 2010 movie which was directed by David O. Russell.

"Eminem was going to be Mickey Ward," Lieberman said. "The first person that we thought would star in this film was Eminem."

Lieberman explained that the success of director Curtis Hanson's 8 Mile which was based on actual events in Eminem's life prompted the discussions of Eminem as Mickey Ward. "That was something that we pursued for a minute and there was real life in that," Lieberman said.

In other Eminem news, 50 Cent recently revealed plans to turn 8 Mile into a television series. The show will be based on the 2002 box office hit that was loosely based on the life of Eminem, who also starred in the film.

“I'm gonna bring 8 Mile to television," he said in an interview with Big Boy. "We’re in motion.” He also confirmed that Eminem is involved in the project, though he didn't say to what capacity. However, he did say he feels the show should be available "for his legacy." Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the film, and a deluxe soundtrack was issued to commemorate it.
